RE: Updates

DATE: June 22, 2022

I thought I would take this opportunity to update all of you regarding some good news at MCS.

Gas and food prices continue to increase (that’s not the good news). Recently MCS increased the staff mileage rate from .40/mile to .48/mile. Effective June 1, 2022, the rate will again be increased, TEMPORARILY to .55/mile. This rate will stay in effect until gas prices drop to $3.50 per gallon. At that point, the mileage rate will revert to .48/mile.

Each Wednesday beginning June 29th through August 31st (ten weeks) MCS will hold an employee raffle. Each Wednesday ten, $50 gift cards will be raffled off to staff – five, $50 Pride gas cards and five, $50 Big Y gift cards. All employee names will automatically be entered each Wednesday. However, you must be an employee on the day of the raffle and you can only win once over the ten weeks. Senior directors are not eligible.

MCS will allow certain staff to work from home one day per week to help them lessen their MCS mileage. However, not all staff will be eligible. A more detailed description will be distributed this week. Program directors will also be available to review the temporary policy with staff.

Finally, effective July 1, 2022, the COVID testing and mask-wearing mandate will be optional at MCS. There will be a more detailed memo sent out this week. For the most part, masks do not need to be worn in the offices and most group homes (there are some exceptions). MCS will continue to offer COVID testing once per week and will make available rapid tests for any employee who wants them. Again, there will be a memorandum distributed this week with more details.

It’s been a challenging 2 ½ years and I suspect there will be more challenges to come. I can’t begin to tell all of you how much I appreciate your continued dedication and hard work. Thank you!
