“Our goal is to support you in a manner that makes sense for the individual”
MCS offers programs for individuals with disabilities who live apart from their family. These supports relieve families of the full-time, day to day responsibilities of caring for their family member. Individuals may live independently (alone or with a roommate) an require less than 15 hours per week of support, or they may live with a family other than their own (Adult Foster Care or Shared Living).
How does the project benefit individuals?
Individual Supports offer a wide range of services:
- Staffing (typically including between one and 15 hours per week) – Staff may work with individuals on a variety of topics including money management, shopping, housekeeping, accessing generic resources (ie. food stamps or Section 8 housing), assistance with organizing medical appointments, recreation, pet care, community integration, etc.
- Supplemental Financial Support for Adult Foster Care
- Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Support – individuals may need MCS to serve as a surrogate or to assist them with hiring PCA workers and filling out paperwork.
