Is your family member turning 18 soon or already receiving adult services under DDS? Wondering whether or not to apply for, or continue, guardianship? Want to know your options?
Come learn about different ways to support and protect your family member’s decision-making on important life matters so that they get the amount of control and protection that they want and need.
Join us for a presentation by John Torrone, Assistant General Counsel for DDS, to learn about legal decision-making options for adults supported by DDS. We will also hear from family members who have chosen different options with and for their family member. We will cover:
An overview of guardianship, power of attorney and health care proxy, and other new decision-making options
- Some pro’s and con’s of different options
- Things to consider in making this decision
- Experiences of other families in selecting different options
This workshop is for families, professional partners and friends of individuals who are – or soon will be – adults served by DDS.
